Asian Scientist Magazine is an award-winning science and technology magazine that highlights research and development news stories from Asia to a global audience. Based in Singapore, the print magazine is maintained by a team of professional science and medical journalists, with active contributors from industry and academia.

All eyes are on the latest topic in science—COVID-19 vaccines. In our cover story, The Vaccine Vanguard  (p. 8), we present a comprehensive guide to Asia’s leading COVID-19 vaccine candidates—from the science behind them to the challenges that lie ahead.

But even as vaccines present a promising chance to overcoming the pandemic, masks will continue to be a key tool for containing COVID-19 (Behind The Mask, p. 16).

Many of these breakthroughs in COVID-19 research would not have been possible without the scientific visionaries from the fields of virology, diagnostics and materials science. In our sixth edition of The Asian Scientist 100 (p.34), we honor the researchers who have valiantly contributed to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
