In this issue of Supercomputing Asia, we explore the role of supercomputers in smart cities. In an interview with Charles Catlett, founding director of the Urban Center for Computation and Data at the University of Chicago, we find out how simulations and edge computing are being used to safely monitor the health of the City of Chicago (CitySim, p. 16).
